Frequently Asked Questions
No. Most of your customers have heard about at least one case of poor indoor air quality on the news or in a magazine. The best way to sell it is by showing your customer the dirt in the return ducts. The AvScope does a great job and it can be done when you are doing the furnace or a/c clean and check.
We can get you everything you need delivered to your shop for less than $1,000.00 up front and a monthly payment of around $440.00.
No, this is a myth that someone, who doesn't understand the properties of air, has tried to use to discredit other equipment. The fact is that the "air" in the home has the least amount of heat in it. It's the objects that are heated. You will drop the temperature some but not enough to be concerned about.
These numbers when used separately, mean nothing. Most numbers quoted by manufacturers at this point mean nothing. There are currently no set standards for the measurement of air flow or vacuum on equipment manufactured today. CFM and SP are important, because the equipment needs both to carry the dirt out of the duct system and to the collection point. The higher the CFM and SP the better it's ability to overcome the resistance on the system. But the type of fan used is most important.
As an example, a standard 5 ton drive package on a furnace can deliver 3,000 CFM but since it's a forward curve blower wheel it's limited to about 1.5" SP. We all know what happens when you don't change the filter quick enough, the air flow stops. That's what happens when your duct cleaning with this fan type. It quits quickly because there is not enough SP to over come the dirty filter. This makes your job very labor intensive.
A backward incline blower wheel does a better job than a forward since it's design allows for higher SP, with averages at around 3". This is what you will find in most electric portable units.
A radial blade blower wheel is the best for the job of duct cleaning. With the ability to produce over 15,000 CFM and SP over 10" this type of blower will save you time on the job and give you the most flexibility. You will find this type of wheel on our units and the gas portables.
